The exhibition transformed the Lookout Tower into an immersive painting space, showcasing the plein air series created by Claire Zakiewicz at the Tower and on trips with the Aldeburgh Arts Club over the last several years. The works explored the serial nature of her moon, sun and portrait production and they chronicle and encapsulate the wonders of natural phenomena and our attunement with them. 

These works on canvas, panel and paper document fleeting phenomena and moments just passed, combined with memories and personal experience. Working in a lush, sensuous palette, they serve as inspiration for large, monumental, gestural abstract paintings.  

Claire's live performances in collaboration with Georgia Morgan Turner and Samuel Hollis combined improvised music with painting as live graphic scores.

This was Claire’s final exhibition before beginning her MA in Painting at the Royal College of Art, supported by the Ali H. Alkazzi Scholarship Award.
